Brain Wave Entrainment (BWE)
It is scientific fact, that our braincells are constantly communicating by electric impulses. Most of us familiar with the EEG machine in the hospitals (Electro Encefalo Graph), which is able to register these impulses. These impulses are slower or faster depending on the state, the alertness of our mind.
When we are in a deep sleep, our brain works on frequencies between 1-4 Herz. This state called Delta.
When the sleep is not so deep, something between 4-8 Hz, is called Theta state.
On the border of sleep and wakefulness, daydreaming, our brain emit waves around 8-13 Hz. (Alfa state)
Above 13 Hz to approximately 40 Hz we are conscious, fully awake, alert. (Beta state)
In the case of certain enlightened individuals, like Eastern monks in meditation or geniuses in the flow of inspiration the brainwaves speed up to high frequencies, maybe to 100 Hz.This called Gamma state.
Known this and using the interesting nature of vibrating things which is the so called Frequency Follow Response, (when you strike a tuning fork, another fork next to it start to resonate on the same frequency; or two pendulum clock next to each other soon will swing in the same rhythm.) the scientists figured out a way to drive the state of a mind with exposing it to a certain, desired wave frequency.
If a chatty mind listens to Theta wave pattern for 15-30 minutes, the chattiness will fade away giving way to the sleeping state.
If a foggy mind is exposed to high Beta rhytms, the fog clears up and to focus on tasks became easy. There is no new under the Sun, because this was obvious to the shamans of the ancient world and the people of nature still living far from the civilization: drums and other instruments to create rhythms were always at hand to heal, to get high, or to make the warriors ready for the fight.
We can use this phenomena in our everyday life to enhance our mood or cognitive performance or help to relax after a hard day in the office. Our tools are no drums and sticks but CD-s and mp3, headphones and synthesizers generating stereo binaural beats and isochronic tones to introduce the certain frequencies to the brain through our ears. It is possible to generate the frequencies by light pulsation also, using special googles or a screen.
To make the result more enjoyable and more effective we mix it with music, nature's sounds, background noises.
